Electronic Christian Music is a new genre of Christian audio and/or music that combines worship songs with personal touches of faith and love through a mixing of sounds and beats provided by an electronic kit and headphones. Electronic Christian Music began when the late Michael J. Fox performed an instrumental Christian song in a series of video recordings that aired on MTV. Christian producers began making and selling electronic Christian music to those who were not familiar with the style of Christian music or Christian audio. Christian electronic dance music or CEDM as it is sometimes called, is emerging as a successful, popular, and entertaining genre within the expanding Christian music industry.

With traditional Christian worship music has a distinctly" Christianity" tone, Christian electronic music has a much faster tempo and drum beat that some would describe as" Electronic Tribal Christian Music". While some have compared this sound to reggae, the artists behind this style of Christian electronic music are not far from resembling the traditional music styles of Africa or even Latin America. One of the major differences is that CEDM has developed a sound that is distinctly "fresh". Many of the traditional musical themes and harmonies found in traditional Christian worship music are missing in the production of electronic Christian music. This is a positive, because those who do use the traditional music themes and harmonies in their productions do so out of reverence for the music, and not out of commercialism.
